Q: Why do I need a protective window for my CO₂ laser?
A: The protective window acts as a disposable barrier between the laser head and the workpiece. It prevents dust, fumes, cutting splashes and other contaminants from entering the laser head and damaging the expensive internal focusing and collimating lenses. Replacing a $20 protective window is much more cost-effective than replacing a $200+ focusing lens.

Q: How often should I replace the protective window?
A: Under normal operating conditions, the protective window should be replaced every 1-2 weeks or every 40-80 hours of use. However, it should be replaced immediately if you notice any film burning, scratches, or if cutting/engraving quality deteriorates. Q: Can I clean and reuse a protective window?
A: Yes, you can clean a slightly contaminated protective window using proper cleaning techniques.
